What we do

APP does not purchase medical practices from ophthalmologists or optometrists. We work as partners to enhance a practice’s performance for its owners. APP will invest in and co-venture eye services with practitioners and health systems.

Project-Specific Consulting

APP will provide project-specific consulting support to practices. Areas of expertise, experience and special interest for consulting support include strategic planning, practice productivity performance evaluations, mergers, acquisitions and sales, marketing, practice ownership restructurings, provider compensation plans and clinical program design and development.

Business Partnerships, Capital Investment and Management

APP will source and provide capital for co-investment in strategic projects such as ambulatory surgery centers, clinical facilities and retail product enterprises (optical shops, for example). APP may be a co-investor and co-manager of such investments along with active, practicing providers.

Retainer-Based Advisory Relationships

APP will provide ongoing, senior-level advisory support to administrative and physician leaders. These arrangements are retainer-based, extending for more prolonged periods and typically addressing a list of issues requiring experienced problem-solving and decision-making. Retainer-based arrangements deliver APP’s full portfolio of support capabilities provided through a single point of contact with a senior APP services professional.

Integrated Management Services Agreements

APP will, for qualified practices, extend practice support services by way of long-term services agreements. These Management Services Agreements (MSA’s) facilitate the extension of such services as: patient billing and revenue cycle management, full financial record keeping, performance analytics, benchmarking and reporting, practice productivity performance analytics and reporting, human resource policies and procedures systems support, practice insurances and risk management support, accounts payable systems support, employee payroll management and capital asset management support, including facilities.

AECP Client Alignment Options

AECP provides leadership, management support and co-investment in provider-owned eye care practices. We operate from our own multi-specialty, multi-site, comprehensive care "living laboratory." We provide three levels of client alignment opportunities.

Level One

Level one enables AECP to be your eye practice "sounding board".

  • Performance benchmarking and people management.
  • Market and People Strategy.

Level Two

Moving up from our "sounding board" services, level two starts moving into partnerships, co-investment and co-management.

  • All services provided in Level One.
  • Payor contracting and strategy.
  • Electronic integration for financial and productivity analytics.
  • Market positioning and strategy.

Level Three

Our third tier of alignment is our most comprehensive. We fully integrate and align with your practice.

  • All services provided in Levels One & Two.
  • Full integration of Financial Systems.

  • Employment of non-provider staff.

APP partners with the Frauenshuh Commercial Real Estate organization (Frauenshuh) to bring integrated eye care services facility solutions to our clients. Frauenshuh’s Healthcare Real Estate Solutions division has a 30+ year track record of developing and managing medical facilities across the U.S. in partnership with physician services organizations and health systems. Facilities developed range in size from 10,000 to 300,000 square feet of custom designed and developed space. APP senior staff work in partnership with Frauenshuh on the design, development, financing and management of facilities developed for eye services practices; medical, surgical and retail space.
